Post-editing consists of editing and correcting a machine-generated translation, modifying the text to the extent necessary to meet the specific project needs and the quality standard required.
If a high-quality translation is required or if the document generated via smart machine translation isn’t sufficient for your needs, CPSL will offer you three alternatives:
- Light post-editing, which is a good choice when the aim is simply for the text to be understandable.
- Full post-editing, which is ideal for sensitive documents or texts that are going to be published.
- Full post-editing + revision by another linguist, less urgent translations with high-quality requirements.
At CPSL, we take post-editing very seriously, being the architect of the ISO 18587:2017 standard, which defines the processes and requirements for human post-editing of machine-translated output. We work with teams of post-editors who are native speakers of the target language and have experience in the subject matter of the text and specific training and experience in post-editing. What’s more, we invite them to help us train and evaluate our translation engines so that we can leverage their valuable linguistic knowledge and achieve the best possible results.
Our post-editors, who work in the strictest confidence, edit machine translation output in work environments that enable assisted-translation tools to be integrated with glossaries. This allows us to ensure consistency with past translations and with the specific terminology required.
